Lawn Bowling Draws, led by our Bowling DrawMasters, are conducted daily, except when there’s a tournament. Please come out as often as you can to meet and enjoy bowling with fellow-members at the following times:

Saturday, 1:00 p.m. - Jenna Van Donselaar – (afternoon tea provided for $2.00 at approx. 2:00 p.m. - contributions of “goodies” appreciated – all members welcome)

Signed and stamped lease!

After several years of debating, negotiating and consultations, and thousands of hours of volunteer time, I’d like to thank everyone in Victoria for their support. Yesterday we received the signed and stamped lease from the city of Victoria, keeping us around for another 15 years (which will bring us over the 100 year mark!)
We would like to offer our thanks by providing free lessons to anyone interested. Stop by Thursday evenings at 5:30p.m. or Sundays at 1p.m. wearing flat soled shoes, for the rest of the summer!

For this occasion, those preferring to lawn bowl on the Saturday have an opportunity to do so at Vic.West. If you’d like to lawn bowl at Vic West LBC on Saturday, 22 May, please list your name right away on the sheet posted on the club notice board, or call Lorne Carnes at 250-384-5499. We need to give our club’s list to Vic.West by this coming Monday, 17 May. There will be no bowling, nor bowling lessons, on Sunday, 23 May.

Dues due

This is a last call for those who have not renewed their memberships for the 2010 year to now do so. All who use the green for either lawn bowling or croquet renew as Regular Members at $150 for the year until May 2011. Those who do not bowl or play croquet but who enjoy watching the games or participating in other recreational and social events, may renew as Social Members at $30. Anyone who is a 2010 Social Member and who wishes to play either lawn bowls or croquet, may upgrade to Regular Member by paying $120.

It’s time to pay your dues!

Along with the other clubs in the BSI, we submit our list of members for inclusion in the BSI Roster which is published mid-May. For that reason, we need, and it is required by our Constitution, that we receive your membership renewal by Saturday, May 8th. Membership forms and dues may be mailed to the club (720 Belleville Street, V8W 1A3) or paid at the clubhouse.

First game of the season

Lawn Bowling opens officially on Saturday, 24 April. Please be at the clubhouse in your flat, smooth-soled shoes and whites by 12:45 p.m. for the 1:00 p.m. draw.

As is our custom for Saturday games, tea will be served mid-way through the afternoon ($2.00) – all regular and social members welcome. Please bring some “goodies” – tea-bread, cookies, squares or cake. Whatever is not used on one Saturday will be frozen or stored for use on subsequent Saturdays throughout the season. All contributions to the “cake-tin” or “cookie jar” are welcome at any time, but especially on Saturdays and for Tournaments!

Croquet calendar

The CP Croquet season gets under way on Sunday, April 25th with a 1:00 p.m. draw. Singles play will be every Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. through the summer until the light gives out. Wednesday evenings will be for doubles play. (Note that there will be no draw Tuesday, June 1st because of the Rose Bowl Tournament.) Croquet will also share the green with bowling 6:00 p.m. Thursday evenings and 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoons (except where bowling tournaments conflict, i.e. June 6th, June 13th, July 18th, August 15th, August 29th and Septempber 12th).
We will be hosting four tournaments – an invitational Victoria Day, May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, a Club Singles, Sunday, June 22nd, Club Doubles, August 22nd and our summer season wind-up Grudge Match, September 26th. Lawn bowling basics workshop

ATTENTION: LAWN BOWLING NOVICES! On this coming Tuesday, 20 April at 6:00 p.m., Ray Turner will be presenting a Lawn Bowling Basics Workshop at the clubhouse, rain or shine. You may already have been contacted about this. However, if we have missed you and you would like to attend, please come by at that time. If you would like to have lessons, but can’t attend on Tuesday, please submit your name by return email or call Ray Turner at 250-475-0653.

The club offers three free lessons to anyone wanting to try lawn bowling with a view to joining the club. If you have friends who’d like to learn more about lawn bowling, please have them check out the website and call the club or Ray Turner.

Veteran lawn bowling members are invited to come help our novices learn the game! If you can help coach on some occasions during the season, please let Ray know.
