Croquet calendar

The CP Croquet season gets under way on Sunday, April 25th with a 1:00 p.m. draw. Singles play will be every Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. through the summer until the light gives out. Wednesday evenings will be for doubles play. (Note that  there will be no draw Tuesday, June 1st because of  the Rose Bowl Tournament.)  Croquet will also share the green with bowling 6:00 p.m. Thursday evenings and 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoons (except where bowling  tournaments conflict, i.e. June 6th, June 13th, July 18th, August 15th,  August 29th and Septempber 12th).
We will be hosting four tournaments – an invitational Victoria Day, May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, a Club Singles, Sunday, June 22nd, Club Doubles, August 22nd and our summer season wind-up Grudge Match, September 26th. Lawn bowling basics workshop

ATTENTION: LAWN BOWLING NOVICES! On this coming Tuesday, 20 April at 6:00 p.m., Ray Turner will be presenting a Lawn Bowling Basics Workshop at the clubhouse, rain or shine.  You may already have been contacted about this.  However, if we have missed you and you would like to attend, please come by at that time.  If you would like to have lessons, but can’t attend on Tuesday, please submit your name by return email or call Ray Turner at 250-475-0653.
The club offers three free lessons to anyone wanting to try lawn bowling with a view to joining the club.  If you have friends who’d like to learn more about lawn bowling, please have them check out the website and call the club or Ray Turner.
Veteran lawn bowling members are invited to come help our novices learn the game!  If you can help coach on some occasions during the season, please let Ray know.

The entry sheets for these events will be posted on the notice boards. Please check the notice boards regularly for these and other South Island bowling clubs’ events which you may wish to enter – and take note of the entry cut-off dates and conditions.

Daily draws for regular games at the club take place at 1:00 p.m. Be ready in club colours (whites and maroon) at 12:45 p.m. with your name tag on the Draw Board.

You’re officially invited to our open house, this April 3rd, 2010!

Cridge Park provides a half-hectare of valuable green space in downtown Victoria consisting of a lawn bowling green and treed area. The City of Victoria will upgrade Cridge Park this year to better meet the needs of the community. Based on recent input from the community, Parks staff have developed a draft plan to improve Cridge Park which they will present at a Public Meeting for feedback this month. Take this opportunity to participate in the planning process, review proposed improvements, ask questions, and provide feedback on the information presented.
