Settlers of Catan

We’re excited to launch the Settlers of Catan league! Starting Monday, November 28th at 7pm, we’re going to host a bi-weekly Settlers of Catan evening. If you’ve got a copy of the game, bring it with you, including any expansion packs. If you don’t have a copy, don’t worry, just come down anyway, we’ll show you how to play! As this will be a first event, it will continue on the 2nd and 4th Monday evening of every month. Please send this to anyone you think might be interested!

(4) BC Bowls Cards – those of you who have already renewed your regular membership can pick up your BC Bowls Cards at the Open House.  This card (for which $21 of your $150 membership has paid) entitles you to visit and play at any BC Bowls club and is required when you enter inter-club tournaments.

(5) Parking Passes – Lorne (384-5499) has again been able to negotiate an agreement with Robbins Parking for seasonal passes to use the Crystal Court Motel lot – $25.  There’ll be a sign-up sheet at the clubhouse or give your cheque to Lorne right away.  Robbins have also agreed to provide passes for the club’s BSI tournaments – Adshead, Rose Bowl and Yarrow.

This tournament is open to all full members of the club. The court will be open from 4p.m. on Saturday afternoon onwards for practice, as the green is quite fast right now. The tournament itself will start at 10a.m. on Sunday, June 27 and will likely continue through to 5 or 6 o’clock. Two levels of play will allow intermediates and experts play to their hearts’ content. The tournament fee is a modest $20 and includes refreshments on the Sunday. Please contact activities@cplawnbowling.org as soon as possible with your intention to participate as we would like to start developing the pairings.

Show up around 5p.m. on Canada Day and let us treat you to a BBQ dinner on us! We will have a cash bar and would love to show you how to lawn bowl if you’re interested in giving it a try. Show up promptly, as once lessons are done we expect we’ll play a couple games. For the evening you are encouraged to bowl in bare feet!
This is an all ages event, your only requirement is that you must be able to roll a lawn bowl from one end of the green to the other. We are asking all members of the club to bring a friend or two. We encourage you to stop by and introduce yourself if we haven’t met you before.
