The main role of a marker is to assist Singles players in their game. A marker should be unobtrusive in order to allow the players to play their game without distractions or additional stress. They should know their duties and be a good judge of distance. Duties include: answering questions about the head, measuring, chalking touchers, keeping score, etc. (see IBB Laws of the Game, especially Law 72, Duties of a Marker)
